A Valley man is on edge after surviving the deadly earthquake in Mexico, but his nightmare is not over as he's waiting for his family who is bracing for Hurricane Irma in Florida.

Two major natural disasters in one week for the man, who says he's focusing on things he can control, but he feels uncertain.

Davier Rodriguez set off to see the world, and Mexico City was on his radar. But just six hours after landing, his world was rocked, literally.

"It felt like a ship, but like the walls were going one way and the floors were going another way, and our bodies were going another way," he said.

He survived one disaster but still has another one coming.

"My family right now is literally all bunkered up in one of our family member's house because the hurricane is hitting pretty soon," he said.

One thousand miles away, Hurricane Irma prepares to make a brutal strike on his family in Florida.

"Luckily I've been able to stay in contact with them as of about an hour ago but at any moment they could lose contact and that's when I would become more worried."

He says circumstances forced his family to stay; they weren't able to evacuate.

He plans to travel to Miami as soon as he can to be with his family.
