PHOENIX — High school can be tough for any student, and it is often more challenging for those individuals who have intellectual or physical disabilities.

That is why Special Olympics Arizona has launched "Inclusion Revolution," a program that hopes to end stigmas and discrimination while boosting communities and community connections.

All are missions that are closed to Deb Taylor's heart. Taylor has been a special education teacher at Sunrise High School in Peoria, Arizona for 34 years and a coach with Special Olympics for 45 years.

At her school, she combines education and athletics with a semester-long program, where athletes in her special education classes compete side by side with other athletes at the school.

Her program goes beyond sports to also teach the importance of health and nutrition, hydration, sleep, and mental health and wellness.

As part of ABC15's Operation Santa Claus, which marks 20 years in 2020, we're raising money for Special Olympics Arizona, as well as St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance, Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC), Military Assistance Mission Arizona, and Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC), five amazing community charities.
