A pilot was OK after their plane crashed near Interstate 17 and New River Road on Monday morning.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said a single engine plane was forced to make an emergency landing in the area just before 9 a.m.

As deputies arrived, they located the pilot who refused medical attention after not suffering any injuries.

A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration said the pilot was the only person aboard the home built Arion Lightning aircraft.

The FAA is investigating the cause of the crash.
