A pursuit and crash lead to the arrest of a drug smuggler in the town of Maricopa Sunday afternoon.
According to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, 22-year-old, Guadalupe Acosta-Gutierrez of Sinaloa, Mexico was spotted by a deputy just South of the Ak-Chin Indian Community.
The deputy attempted to stop him for a traffic violation when he fled, reaching speeds of up to 70 miles per hour.
He later crashed in to some trees, fled on foot and was caught about a half mile away.
Inside the Ford SUV was 20 bales of marijuana weighing about 280 pounds valued at $140,000.
Guadalupe Acosta-Gutierrez was alone in the SUV and will face charges of drug smuggling and felony flight.
