An ongoing federal lawsuit alleging Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio - and his office - illegally detained people has a new hearing date.
U.S. District Court Judge G. Murray Snow has scheduled a hearing for June 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the federal courthouse on Washington Street.
The American Civil Liberties Union, which initially filed the lawsuit, is ultimately seeking criminal contempt charges against Arpaio, as well as $300,000 in a victim compensation fund.
However, the hearing might be canceled if the judge does not need to hear from both parties in-person after receiving their briefs.
