Marijuana initiative falls short as Arizona voters reject Proposition 205

By a narrow margin, Arizona voters have rejected Proposition 205, which would have legalized the recreational use of marijuana in the state.

Polls taken before the election indicated the Prop 205 vote would be close.

Organizations who both supported and opposed the proposition spent millions of dollars advertising in the state in the months leading up to Tuesday's election.

In 2010, Arizona voters narrowly passed a proposition that legalized the use of marijuana for medical purposes.
