The setting for a haunted house couldn't get any better than an old jail nestled in the middle of downtown Globe.

The Gila County Courthouse and Jail opened in 1910 and if these walls could talk…well, some say they actually do hear voices here.

Maybe of past prisoners, even children, who haunt the cells.

"This is huge for us," said Al Gameros, the town's mayor. "We've had some small haunted houses within the jail but nothing of this caliber."

Crews have spent the last 30 days adding to the already spooky setting.

Folks will walk through a maze of black walls and through the jail cells. Actors will make the experience even better.

The thing is, a lot of people say the jail really is haunted.

One prisoner was shot while sitting in his jail cell. The sniper took him out from the building next door. His spirit apparently still sits inside that jail.

So yes, if the walls could talk…you just might have to listen closely to hear them.
