Is former Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon considering a run at being the next sheriff?
Gordon hasn't committed to anything, but indicated the interest is there.
"A number of us--a significant number--have been for months looking for a candidate who can beat the Sheriff [Joe Arpaio]. Its cost the state so much money, embarrassment," he said. "The whole department is in disarray."
He is considering his options.
Last week, Gordon accused Arpaio of retaliating against him after critiquing his immigration policies in 2008.
In January, Arpaio announced he would seek re-election in 2016. He was first elected as Sheriff in 1993 and had successfully been re-elected six times.
