Two major roads that were impacted by a wildfire near the Grand Canyon's North Rim have reopened.
Grand Canyon National Park officials say Point Imperial and Cape Royal roads opened the public at 8 a.m. Sunday, freeing visitors to access lookout points for the first time in several days.
However, trails in the area will remain closed for firefighters' safety.
Motorists are asked to drive with caution and only stop in parking areas.
The lightning-caused wildfire, which began June 29, has burned approximately 14,385 acres. It is currently 65 percent contained.
It had been a potential threat to State Route 67, which serves facilities on the North Rim.
Fire managers say the fire is expected to be more active in the west and north because of dry conditions.
