Hungry but can't get out to get something? Food deliveries to the rescue!
But there are so many options. Which will get your food to you fastest and for the best price?
Our contenders. Uber Eats, Grubhub and Door Dash.
We ordered the same items from all three delivery services. They all charged the same for the actual food -- it's the fees that set them apart.
Uber Eats charges a $4.99 booking fee. Grubhub is $5.99. Door Dash is at $5.17 for its delivery and service fees.
However, Door Dash gives us a first-time user discount on delivery making it just 99 cents.
The final charge, without the tip or discount is $16.79. $16.83 with Uber Eats and $17.61 with Grubhub.
All three services gave us time estimates. But how close are the estimates?
Uber Eats was supposed to arrive by 9:42 a.m. They got here first and early at 9:40 a.m.
Door Dash was next to arrive. Their estimate 9:58 a.m. They got here much earlier at 9:45.
Grubhub was supposed to be here by 10:23 a.m. But they arrived more than 30 minutes early at 9:50 a.m.
Also note, Uber Eats is the only one that didn't give us an option to tip the driver up front. However, after you receive your order, they do give you that option when you rate the service.
Grubhub was the only one of the three that had a minimum order of ten dollars. Also, there are promo codes online for first-time users on all three services offering up to $10 off.
