Simple ways to save on water in your garden

Gardening can save you a lot of money on your grocery bill, but it isn’t free.

Water is one of the things that can make or break your wallet.

We visitedJake Mace, also known as the Vegan Athlete, and he gave us some simple ways to save on water and still have a successful garden.

First, he says harvest rainwater with rain gutters.  I know, it seems like a waste in the desert but you’d be surprised at how much water you can collect from your roof.

Depending on the size of your garden, you can get away with only using rainwater in the winter.

Jake also says use wood chips in the landscape because it keeps the water from evaporating too quickly.  Jake showed us how underneath the wood chips, his soil was still moist.

The best part of using wood chips is that many landscape companies will give them to you for free!

So now you can grow your own food and save money while you’re doing it.
