It is time to use your melon! And doing just that will keep you entertained, save you money and score you some freebies!

Wednesday, June 27th, kids of all ages can enjoy crafts and activities at Tempe History Museum for a free Watermelon Carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

As part of the Tempe Time Machine program, children will get to enjoy the following freebies:

  1. Decorate a watermelon like Mr. Potato Head to take home. There will also be fun attachments to add to the watermelon.
  2. Make a paper handbag and color it to look like a watermelon.
  3. Make watermelon-colored windsocks to fly.
  4. Watermelon ping-pong: Make your own paddles and play with a watermelon ball.
  5. Watermelon obstacle course: With our watermelon ball, run the obstacle course.
  6. Watermelon bowling with a watermelon ball.
  7. Competitive watermelon seed fishing. The first one to get five seeds wins!
You get to take a watermelon home for free because a local farmer donated watermelons to the city, and they have 500 to give away! I hope the creative juices are flowing.
