Bull or No Bull: Testing a hack using tape to hang decor and a blow dryer to remove price stickers

Every once in awhile, I take a break from testing products. Instead, I try a hack and let you know if it's whack! Today's tests focus on two life hacks we saw on 5-Minute Crafts that might solve annoying problems and make things easier... if they work!

HACK TO HANG THINGS ON THE WALL:

Home is where the heart is, right? Well, I just so happened to have a light-up decorative heart that I wanted to hang on the wall. The thing is, the back of the decor has those two kinds of slots that make it more difficult to hang.

On 5-Minute Crafts, they showed a simple solution. So, we followed along as instructed.

I flipped over my decorative heart, so the two slots were facing up. Then, I took clear Scotch Tape, and stuck it across the slots. If you have painter's tape, that may be best, as long as you can see where the slots are.

I grabbed a permanent marker, traced where the slots were, and colored them in. Once the marker dried, I removed the tape.

Eyeballing it, I stuck the tape on the wall where I would like the heart to hang. (You can totally use a leveler in this process. I didn't, but thankfully, it came out even.) Then, either drill in screws or hammer in nails. We hammered in two nails, removed the tape, and then hung the heart!

It was so simple, and there was no guessing. It makes me reflect back to similar, but much heavier decorations, how challenging they were to hang, and how many times we had to redo the process when they weren't level or were in the wrong place. It sure made me wish we would have done this years ago.

This hack is... NO BULL!

HACK TO REMOVE PRICE OR BAR-CODE STICKERS FROM ITEMS:

Will the next hack BLOW us away?

Sometimes, when you purchase a mug, for example, there's a price or bar-code sticker of some kind that is, most often, extremely difficult to remove. I've had my fair share of failed attempts that mark my minuscule progress with tiny pieces of sticker stuck everywhere, mixed with a bunch of frustration and goo.

We grabbed my Cinderella mug. (At the time, I believed its magical powers would contribute to the success of this test). I turned the mug upside down, so the sticker was facing upward. Then, I grabbed my blow dryer, turned it on hot and high heat, and directed it toward the sticker for one minute.

Cinderella's fairy Godmother must have waved her wand and said, "bibbidi-bobbidi-boo" because it worked! The sticker came right off! That was a dream come true!

So, I grabbed a different mug with a similar sticker, and tried the exact same process again... minus the magic, of course, but with the same enthusiasm! Unfortunately, the sticker did not come off. Tiny little bits kept ripping off, but in general, more than half of the sticker was still stuck on there.

Since I didn't receive consistent results, I'm going with... BULL! Though, I plan on trying this again, and my answer may change. I would still encourage you to try this at home, and please let me know what you think when you do!
