A new school zone safety report is rattling parents across the country and state.

Arizona ranks near the bottom when it comes to school zone safety, and Maricopa County is the worst in the state.

California-based Zendrive collected information on speeders who are distracted, aggressive or make sudden starts and stops. It comes from anonymous data from various phone apps.

Most schools in the country scored a “C” or worse.

Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for all school-aged kids in the United States. The peak hours for those cases are just before and after school.

Zendrive created an interactive map of the results so you can see specific states, counties and schools. It also breaks down what the leading driving offenses are in each school zone.

Given the alarming results of the study, Zendrive is offering school districts $50,000 safety improvement grants. Anyone can submit a proposal of how you would improve safety. The deadline to enter the #FundMyStreets campaign is December 10.
