Police are looking for a man caught on camera stealing items from a pickup truck in Peoria.

According to Peoria police, the incident happened around 6 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Peoria and 95th avenues.

Surveillance video shows the suspect walking onto the victim’s property and stealing items from the bed of the pickup truck.

In about 60 seconds, the victim said the man stole a canister of refrigerant and tools worth about $1,500.

"I work hard for my money, and they just want to take it," said Matt Leach, who was targeted by the suspect.

Leach said he uses the tools for his job as an air conditioning technician.

The suspect is described as a white male subject with a large build, “top knot” haircut with sides shaved, full beard, wearing glasses with a button-up shirt, long-sleeved under shirt and jeans.

He possibly arrived in a light-colored Ford Transit-type vehicle, which police said is commonly used by businesses.

Leach said this wasn't the first time he was hit by thieves. In September, a similar situation occurred.

"They broke into my vehicle, and they actually made it in and stole probably $1,400 to $1,500 worth of tools," he said.

This time, the cameras caught the suspect in the act.

Anyone who knows the suspect in the video or has information on the incident is asked to contact the Peoria Police Department’s Property Crime’s Unit at 623-773-7089.
