A constable's attempt to serve an eviction notice led to the discovery of two bodies inside a home on Wednesday, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

The county official went to evict the residents of a home near Dysart and Indian School roads around 2 p.m., MCSO said.

The constable broke down the door, which led to the discovery of the two bodies. The bodies could not be identified as male or female, an MCSO spokesperson said.

The deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide, deputies said.

Neighbors said a couple, apparently in their 60s, lived in the home. Ashley McCue, a neighbor, said the pair were involved in the neighborhood.

"They would sit out at the end of the driveway on Halloween and pass out big bags of candy to all the kids," McCue said. "It's really sad and it's disturbing."

The identities of the people found dead have not been released, but MCSO said a note was discovered at the scene.
