The countdown is on to see a couple's lavish Christmas display in Laveen.

Patti and Mel Tasker's 'Cartoon Zooland' is filled with around 300,000 lights.

"There are 300,000 lights, 400 cartoon cartoons, and three Waldos we hide every Friday for the kids,” said Patti Tasker.

The display is in its 2nd year. The couple begins setting up as early as July.

"Everything is held with rebar so you’re pounding hundreds of hundreds of rebar into the ground," said Mel Tasker. "It’s a lot of work."

The Tasker's said it's worth all the work with hundreds of people driving through every night.

The couple knows their days are numbered however.

The South Mountain freeway is under construction about a mile to the east. More access to the area is already bringing in new developers.

They've already been approached by one developer from California.

Tasker hopes she has at least one more year of her elaborate display, but she's enjoying every bright evening in the meantime.

The lights are on from 6p.m. to 1 a.m. through January.
