After more than a year, a Goodyear family is set to be reunited with their missing pup.

"Frankie" was turned into the Arizona Animal Welfare league as a stray. When workers microchipped the Yorkshire Terrier, they were able to locate his owner who confirmed the dog has been missing.

The reunion is set for Wednesday afternoon at the facility near 40th and Washington streets.

AAWL officials say the reunion is timely. Next week is National Pet ID Week, and AAWL has been reminding the public to make sure their pets have current ID and microchipping.

Without a microchip, only 15-20 percent of lost dogs and less than 2% of lost cats are returned home.
