Glendale police say a man suspected of starting a fire at an apartment complex Monday afternoon has been arrested.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. at the complex near 61st Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

Police say they were looking for a Hispanic male wearing a red shirt who left the area shortly after the fire started. Police were told that the man who started the fire was a previous tenant of the apartment.

They’ve also recovered a red gas can left at the scene.

"[A fire] jeopardizes everybody's life,” said Tee Martinez, who lives in the apartment complex. “I think it was really selfish of him."

On Tuesday morning, police say 25-year-old Raziel Leyva Lugo was arrested and charged with arson.

No one was hurt during the incident.
