A typical work day recently got off to a hopping start for one Glendale police officer.

According to the Glendale Police Department, they received an unusual report about a "kangaroo in the street."

When Officer Joseph Procopio arrived at the scene, he spotted a family tending to the small kangaroo near a busy road. Eventually, Procopio was able to wrangle her to safety with a dog leash, officials said.

Luckily for the people watching the bizarre (but adorable) situation unfold, the kangaroo named "Olivia," is "super sweet" and allowed children to pet her, Glendale police said.

"Olivia" was taken to the Glendale City Park facility and her owners were located days later through email.

She's now back with her owner and Procopio is being hailed a hero.
