Glendale police arrested two men Thursday afternoon after a foot chase through the area of the Westgate Entertainment District, according to a police spokesperson.

Helping police catch the two Christmas Eve thieves was "the right thing to do," according to an eyewitness, Jessica Guajardo.

Guajardo spotted the two men being chased in the area of Tanger Outlets, she said. She and her daughter followed the apparent suspects in Guajardo's car.

"We weren't sure if they had weapons or anything like that so we just kept our safe distance from them," Guajardo said.

Police were nearby due to an attempted bank robbery in the area.

Guajardo said she called 911 while she tailed the suspects for 10 minutes, then pointed the suspects out to police.

"I used to work as a police dispatcher," Guajardo said.

The suspects jumped a concrete wall to try to escape, Guajardo said, but police caught and arrested the pair.

When a reporter asked one of the suspects why he was stealing on Christmas Eve, he did not answer.

The two suspects, who were not identified, shoplifted from several stores at Tanger Outlets before running from the area, according to police.

No one was hurt during the incident.
