FD: Visually impaired family escapes Glendale fire

Officials are investigating after a house fire started in Glendale on Tuesday morning.

The fire started around 3:30 a.m. near 43rd Avenue and Glendale.

When fire crews arrived on the scene they found the house on fire and they went defensive right away.

Glendale fire said crews were unable to secure a gas leak right away, so it was dangerous situation when they got on scene.

Two residents inside the home, an uncle and niece were both asleep at the time. They are both visually impaired but were able to get to backyard safely. A Glendale police officer helped guide them further away from the home.

Several dogs were inside the home and they escaped without any injuries.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
