A decade separated a woman from her dog. But for years, she never gave up that one day they'd be reunited. One day, the love that bonded them would be reignited.

And she was right.

Blanca went missing in December of 2007. Blanca's owner Susan Bohn believed that someone had swiped the dog off of her front porch.

It was an ugly day for Susan and her family.

But they did all they could to find their dog. The dog, who had a bladder issue, needed her medication, so the family acted quickly. Flyers were made. They were posted all over. Animal shelters were visited. Alas, Blanca was nowhere to be found.

But hope wasn't lost. It was strengthened.

Susan had Blanca microchipped before her disappearance. Over the span of 10 years, the micropchip was updated. Where ever Susan went, the dog's microchip reflected.

A decade later, Blanca arrived at the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control's shelter on August 30th. She was brought in as a stray. Staff members scanned her, and they found what Susan was looking for this whole time.

Susan was called, and she was reunited with her love.

But now at nearly 13 years of age, Blanca was found to be in poor health. She has mammary tumors and requires medical treatment. Susan's wish has been fulfilled, but it may be short-lived as Blanca was said to be in "grave" condition.

ABC15 learned on Tuesday morning that Blanca passed away, days after being reunited with her owner.
