Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has located a 2-year-old boy who wandered away from his mother Sunday morning in Rainbow Valley near Buckeye.

The boy was reported missing after 9 a.m.  in an area near 215th Avenue and Elliot Road. MCSO said the area has a lot of foliage.

MCSO deputies, search-and-rescue crews and an MCSO helicopter were out in the area looking for the boy, as well as hundreds of nearby residents, according to MCSO.

The child was found three hours after he went missing.  He came out from some brush and ran towards a rescue worker.

The boy was checked out by Buckeye Valley Fire Department, and officials said the boy appeared to be okay.

“He had stickers on him and was dehydrated,” Deputy Joaquin Enriquez said.

Enriquez said the boy was walking with his mom when he kept running ahead and then she lost sight of him.

He was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

MCSO is investigating, but Enriquez said there doesn’t appear to be evidence of foul play or neglect.
