Christmas decorations in one Avondale neighborhood are scaled down this year because too many decorations have gone missing.

"It was like watching the Grinch movie," Miles Bouchard said about watching surveillance video of someone stealing his inflatable lawn characters outside his home near 107th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

"It's the exact opposite of what Christmas is, and what the kids want," Bouchard said.

Neighbor Grady Witcher heard about the theft, and decided to put out fewer decorations.

"It's sad," Witcher said about having to worry about Christmas decorations going missing.

Witcher put an inflatable decoration on the second story of his home to dissuade potential crooks.

"If a thief wants to try to climb up there to steal it, 'Good luck,'" Witcher said.
