The ACES special education school in Tempe has fired a teacher who reportedly duct taped a student’s shoes to his feet.

Tempe police say the student was kicking his shoes off repeatedly causing a distraction in class. A school representative says the teacher spoke to the boy’s mother, who said it was ok to duct tape the kid’s shoes to his feet.

The school says the boy’s feet were not duct taped together, and the child was not harmed in any way. Still, the teacher was placed on administrative leave after the incident and has since been terminated.

Police say the boy’s father, who is in a custody battle with the mother, was very upset about the teacher’s actions.

So far no charges have been filed against the teacher.
