A man is in critical condition after being hit by a tow truck in an overnight collision in Tempe.
The incident happened around midnight on Tuesday in the area of McKellips Street and Scottsdale Road.
Tempe police said the man was running across the roadway from east to west and was hit by a southbound driver in a tow truck.
The driver was driving in the lane closest to the sidewalk and was unable to stop before striking the pedestrian.
The man, said to be in his 30s to 40s, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. No information was immediately available as far as the pedestrian’s identification.
The tow truck driver remained on the scene and was said to be cooperating with officers. Impairment and speed are not thought to be factors.
