TEMPE, AZ — Tempe Police Department says a driver was arrested for DUI after hitting a patrol vehicle Thursday night.
The crash occurred near Interstate 10 and Elliot Road around 10 p.m.
Police say a Tempe Police Explorer was stopped eastbound on Elliot to contact someone with emergency lights activated. The officer exited the marked car and another vehicle collided with it, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

Investigators determined the driver was impaired at the time of the crash and was arrested for DUI.
The driver has not been identified.
Police did not report any serious injuries during the incident.
