Tempe FD: Person stabbed in throat on city bus

An altercation on a city bus in Tempe ended after a person was stabbed in the throat, officials said. 

According to the Tempe Police Department and Tempe Fire Department, a verbal altercation turned physical when one person involved in the argument stabbed the other individual in the throat area. 

Fire crews were called out to the Tempe Transit Center near 5th Street and Forest Avenue to treat the person who was stabbed. That individual was transported to a hospital for treatment. Officials said the victim was talking and was in stable condition when taken to a hospital. 

Police took the other individual, who they believe stabbed the other, into custody. 

Officials are investigating the incident.
