A Valley church is asking the community to pray for peace and calm after a tense situation at the church involving politics.

The Community Christian Church in Tempe has a rainbow flag at its church in support of the LGBTQ community.

Last week, a man stopped by the church angry about the flag. He said he stopped by to talk about gay people; the church posted on its Facebook page that the man had "'righteous' hated for them" and also said he would pay people to protest in front of the church as well as spread lies about pedophilia involving the church.

The man told a church administrator that he "felt empowered to speak and act out" because Donald Trump won the presidential election. Had Hillary Clinton won he would have driven past the church without speaking out.

The church is asking for prays of peace for the community and the nation in hopes that people stop speaking and acting "in hateful and cruel ways."
