A big safety change is coming to what was a 24-hour Tempe post office, and it has residents upset.
People have been using the lobby area of the post office as a bathroom after hours.
If you pickup your mail at this office, located on 5th Street and Mill Avenue, starting April 4 the doors to the P.O. box lobby will be locked at 6 p.m.
This has always been a 24-hour spot, but the USPS says many homeless people are using the area as an overnight shelter, and people are constantly going to the bathroom on the floor.
Others have also vandalized the business.

Officials say paying for overnight security just isn't in the budget, but some customers tell us that this move punishes them more than the vandals as they won't be able to access their mail whenever they need to.
