With the rising cost of college tuition a growing number of students are turning to a different kind of financial aid, 'sugar daddies.'
According to SeekingArrangement, Arizona State University just jumped to second on the list for the fastest growing number of students signing up with them.
The website says ASU is up 20% over the last year with more than 1,100 students letting a rich benefactor pay for their tuition.
The average monthly allowance is $3,000. The company says it's not an escort service and sex is as much a part of the relationship as it is any romantic relationship and sometimes it’s not part of the agreement at all.
Company representatives say about 10% of its relationships become long term or lead to marriage, but they say that’s not what its clients are typically looking for.
Reactions on campus are mixed, some shocked, some at least curious about what it takes to graduate with a debt free degree.
"Oh, my gracious, I don’t know anyone who has or would do that," said one ASU student.
Another student raised the question, "It depends what they're doing other than him paying for her."
"I don't think I'd ever do it, but I definitely know people who would easily jump on that," another student told ABC15.
New York University tops the list for sugar babies with a current total of 1,282 and 21% growth.
University of Arizona is number 14 with 183 sugar babies, an 85% increase over the last year.
Northern Arizona University is also in the top 50 ranked 38 with 153 students, a 46% increase.
