Officials are searching for the suspect who shot a man overnight in the Town of Guadalupe.

A Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department official says they responded to a shooting call around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Calle Guadalupe and Avenida del Yaqui.

According to MCSO, an altercation took place in an alley and the victim, Roy Uriate, and was shot once. The 44-year-old victim was able to walk to his home and call for help.

MCSO says the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but is expected to survive.

MCSO, DPS and Phoenix Police have set up a perimeter within town limits searching for suspect. They located at least one shell casing in the alley just east of the home. Drug paraphernalia was also located.

MCSO says Uriate was in surgery, is now in stable condition and is not cooperative with detectives or releasing any information on the shooting.

Witnesses in the area told officials they did not see anything related to the shooting.
