Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect accused of shooting a deputy during a traffic stop.
Robert Walesa, 51, is said to be the man who shot and killed himself in front of detectives in Tempe late Tuesday night.
Detectives were at Walesa's residence near University Drive and Price Road looking to question him about a weekend shooting involving an MCSO deputy.
MCSO says the suspect in the deputy's shooting was taken in during a DUI task force and hours later, drove by and fired several shots.
Records indicate Walesa served a two-year prison sentence starting in 2000 for stalking.
The deputy has since been released from the hospital.
