Tempe fire officials say a man was injured overnight after he fell into an elevator shaft on Mill Avenue.
The incident occurred around midnight on the third floor of a building near 5th Street.
The 22-year-old man reportedly walked into the shaft when the elevator doors opened, not knowing the car was not on the floor as it was supposed to be.
He fell onto the car stopped a floor below him with people inside who heard him yell for help.
Fire officials say he was taken to the hospital after he was rescued and suffered a possible fractured arm and facial trauma.
The cause of the elevator issue is under investigation.
