Former Arizona State University football player sentenced for burglary

A former Arizona State University football player is learning his fate after being sentenced in connection to a burglary at a student housing building near campus.

Deonte Reynolds was sentenced to three years probation on Monday, a Maricopa County spokesperson said. 

Reynolds' pled guilty to attempted theft of a credit card or obtaining a credit card by fraudulent means stemming from the incident last December.

According to court documents, Reynolds and ASU teammate, Jayme Otomewo, allegedly broke into the Vista del Sol apartments near Apache Boulevard and Rural Road.

When officers arrived on scene, the pair was spotted outside of the building. Both men admitted to unlawfully entering a home and Otomewo had a butter knife and stolen credit cards in his pocket. Reynolds had two Apple iPods, an iPhone and $40, a police spokesperson said.

Otomewo is slated to be sentenced on Tuesday.
