A Phoenix man went all the way to Mesa to rob a Taco Bell, but he picked one with an employee that wasn't going allow it, officials said.

According to court documents, 35-year-old Michael Ernest Begay went into the Taco Bell near Dobson Road and Southern Avenue on Feb. 2. He stood in line and ordered his food.

Police said that when the register drawer opened, Begay thrust his hands into the drawer to take the money out. But the fast food clerks at this restaurant are no push overs.

As Begay and the cashier struggled for the money, another employee confronted Begay, wrestling him and pinning him to the railing until police could get there, documents said.

Police said Begay told them he was a heroin addict who was "hurting for money."  He said he was withdrawing from the addictive drug for about three days.

Begay was arrested on charges of robbery.
