The Mesa Police Department is launching a therapy canine program.
On Tuesday, police introduced "Macy," a 16-week-old English Labrador, the department's first dog in the program.
Officials say the program will be based out of the Mesa Family Advocacy Center.
"As she grows and receives her training, she will provide comfort and compassion to both victims of crime and our sworn and professional staff," police said in a news release.
The program will provide assistance to victims and staff, "during their most difficult times."
