Mesa Fire and Medical Department says one person was taken to the hospital after a car crash involving a light rail train.

The crash occurred late Monday morning on Main Street, just west of Extension.

The light rail system between Country Club and Alma School was experiencing 25-minute delays, according to Valley Metro on Twitter, but service has since returned to normal.

Fire officials say no one on the light rail train was injured.

There is no word on what caused the crash.
