A couple had to move out quickly after a storm tore the roof off their mobile home.

The National Weather Service says the winds from a collapsing thunderstorm moved over the area near Broadway and Val Vista around 6 p.m. Friday.

"I heard the wind come up and then I heard the ripping and oh it scared me so badly," said Kathy Torrisi, who woke up to the sound of her roof being ripped from her home.

She called her husband and urged him to get home as soon as he could.

"I said it was just the wind and she said no, no,no," Richard Torrisi said. I just dropped my jaw. I couldn't believe how bad it was."

Elsewhere in the complex, a neighbor's carport caved in and other mobile homes also suffered damage of varying degrees.

The couple spent their Saturday morning trying to get as much out of their house as possible before another storm moved through.

"Clothes and stuff like that can always be clean, we're trying to get the computer stuff and I got a whole bunch, oh we got a ton of stuff in there to move out," Richard Torrisi said.

"We may've lost our house probably but we still got each other and we're still fine," Kathy Torrisi said.
