A man has been arrested after knocking on people's doors and claiming to be an officer with the Gilbert Police Department.

According to Gilbert police, on the night of November 16, Louis Schatzerq reportedly knocked on several apartment doors near Lindsay and Guadalupe roads and identified himself as a Gilbert police officer.

Once he was inside, Schatzerq alluded that he wasn't an officer but was affiliated with the department and implied he was searching for drugs. Police said that Schatzerq is not affiliated with the Gilbert Police Department in any way.

Schatzerq had a gun in his hand and fired off a round while talking to people in several confrontations, officials said.

"If a person is ever concerned about the legitimacy of an officer, contact police immediately. Police will get you assistance immediately. If in plain clothes, make sure they have badge and credentials, trust your instincts," said Sgt. Mark Marino, with the Gilbert Police Department.
