Teen arrested after bringing gun, ammunition to Chandler school

CHANDLER, AZ - A student in Chandler was arrested after it was discovered he was carrying a gun and ammunition inside his backpack at school. 

According to the Chandler Police Department, around 1:40 p.m. police responded to the school after learning a student had a gun at Santan Junior High School.  

The 7th-grade student had a revolver, which was not loaded, along with ammunition inside his backpack. 

Another student on the campus had alerted campus officials.   

The student had not brandished the weapon while on campus, and threats were not made.  

The 13-year-old teen was arrested and booked into a detention center booked on misconduct involving weapons, disruption of an educational facility and carrying a concealed weapon charges.
