Chandler attempted kidnapping subject released by police

CHANDLER, AZ - A man suspected of an attempted kidnapping involving a child in Chandler has been released.

Chandler police said on April 26, around 11:40 a.m., a man approached a child who was playing in a park near Arizona Avenue and Warner Road.

The suspect allegedly tried to hold the child’s hand. The child was able to pull away and stated “no.” 

According to police, the suspect grabbed the child’s wrist and started walking away with him before being stopped by a family member of the child. 

Officials said the suspect was located Friday morning and arrested at a nearby apartment complex. He was taken into custody without incident. He was later arrested after talking with a detective. Police said the subject is visiting from another county and there was difference in cultural norms between his home and US.
