Fire crews were called out after a roof partially collapsed in west Phoenix at a skating rink.

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, there was a partial collapse at the Rollero Skate Rink located near 74th Avenue and Indian School Road around 10 p.m.

The exterior walls of the building became unstable with the collapse, officials said. A natural gas leak also occurred inside.

The skating rink took to its Facebook page and said it will be closed "until further notice" as a result of the damage it sustained on Tuesday night.

According to Phoenix fire, the age of the building may have also contributed to the roof's collapse. A spokesperson says the structure was built with a bowstring-type roof that were popular before the 1960s. These types of buildings pose as a threat to firefighters because they fail rapidly under fire conditions.

No one was inside the building at the time of the incident.

Glendale firefighters also assisted with the response.
