A gas leak has impacted traffic on a major road in Phoenix.
Firefighters from Phoenix and Peoria along with Southwest Gas crews are investigating a suspected gas leak underneath Northern Avenue near 25th Avenue. Fire officials asked drivers to avoid Northern in both directions between 27th Avenue and Interstate 17 during the investigation.
No injuries were immediately reported.

Businesses on both sides of Northern between the interstate and 27th Avenue were evacuated as a precaution, according to a Phoenix Fire Department spokesman.
The road is expected to be closed into Saturday night, officials said.
