Police say three Tempe officers were shot at by an unknown person in west Phoenix early Thursday morning.

According to Phoenix Police, the officers were conducting an investigation near 40th Avenue and Osborn Road around 1:30 a.m. when someone in a truck followed them and fired shots at them.

Fortunately, none of the officers were injured or hit by the gunfire.

Brooke Hites, who lives near the shooting, said police are remaining tight-lipped about the investigation which is frustrating for her because she has two young kids.

"We woke up...we heard helicopters going," Hites said. "So, we came out and then all of a sudden we were being flashed with lights and cops everywhere."

Hites said she was told to stay inside her home as a precaution. Officers set-up the mobile command unit outside her window and the crime scene tape crossed the front of her door.

"It's a bit scary," she said. "You don't know what's going on. Something has to give. they have to tell us something."

Police say the shooter has not been found, however, the vehicle, a brown Chevy pickup, was found at an apartment complex near 67th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

Phoenix police told ABC15 that they're talking to the registered owner of the pickup truck.

The shooting incident and investigation police were in the area for do not appear to be related in any way.

No further information has been released.
