Police are investigating after a limo driver was shot by his passenger in west Phoenix.

According to police, around 1 a.m. a man was shot near 69th Avenue and Van Buren Street.

Police say a man, identified as 29-year-old Zhair Zamora Sepulveda, and his girlfriend had hired a limo for the night; at the end of the night the suspect didn't want to pay the driver for his services that went beyond the original contract.

The limo driver told Sepulveda he was owed additional monies when Sepulveda went into his girlfriend's house and came back out with a handgun. He then fired "in a downward direction" towards the driver, police said.

The driver was struck twice in the legs. The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.

Upon the arrival of police, the suspect was located with the weapon in his hands and was arrested. Sepulveda faces aggravated assault and misconduct involving weapons.
