Four orphaned baby owls are set to be released after they were taken in when their mother was killed in Tolleson.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department along with Liberty Wildlife took in the animals after a homeowner in Tolleson shot and killed the mother. The homeowner paid $4,000 in restitution as the animals are federally protected.

The great horned owls were raised by a foster female great horned owl at Liberty Wildlife. The animals are now ready to be released in a remote area about seven miles southwest of Buckeye where other wildlife, including owls, live.
