A multi-vehicle crash has closed a portion of the Loop 101 in the West Valley and sent four people to the hospital.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said a crash near Indian School Road closed the northbound lanes of traffic in that area for several hours.
Phoenix firefighters said a one-year-old boy was taken from the scene in extremely critical condition. Three adults were also hospitalized in critical but stable condition, according to a spokesman.

ADOT said the area was reopened to traffic around 4:30 p.m. The southbound lanes were not impacted, officials said.
