Fire officials were able to keep a wind-driven brush fire from spreading to homes in South Phoenix overnight.
The brush fire happened at a cemetery near 44th Street and Southern Avenue around 11:30 p.m. on Monday.
Phoenix Fire Captain Ardell Deliz says the fire threatened multiple homes located nearby.
Captain Deliz says the windy weather overnight was a factor; however, firefighters from Phoenix and Tempe fire departments were able to put the fire out and keep it from spreading to the homes.
There were no injuries and no residents in the nearby homes will be displaced.
The fire is under investigation.
